Research interest

Xie lab is interested in plant hormone biology, with a special focus on perception and signaling mechanisms of jasmonate (JA) and strigolactone (SL). Xie lab has revealed perception mechanisms for JA and SL: COI1 serves as a JA receptor, which binds active JA molecules to form a new platform that recruits JAZ repressors for degradation to trigger JA-regulated plant defense and development; D14 acts as a non-canonical receptor for SL with dual functions of enzyme and receptor, which hydrolyzes SL, undergoes significant conformation change to form a new platform with the lid-closed cavity that recruits signal components (such as the F-box protein D3/MAX2 and repressor protein D53/SMXLs) to trigger SL responses.
